TREASURES AND CULTURES OF CAMEROON

:

Day 01 : Europe-Douala
Arrival in Douala, reception at the airport and transfer to the hotel. If require, dinner in town and overnight hotel Douala.

Day 02 : Douala-Kumba
7:00am breakfast and departure from Douala via the rubber and the banana plantations and factory in Tiko,the tea plantation in Buea. At 12:00 launch. Drive through the rubber plantation along the leeward side of mount Cameroon and see how the rubber is won and give it a try yourself. Check in hotel and dinner with Cameroonian family home or hotel restaurant and overnight in the hotel.



Day 03 : Kumba-Lake Barombi
7:30am breakfast with Bridget and departure to the crater lake of Barombi. Cross the lake in a canoe and visit to the chief and the small village (Barondo tribe) at the other side of the lake. Walk back through the dense forest along the lake, see birds and tropical vegetation.12:00pm Pic nic lunch near the lake.In the afternoon Bridget takes you to do shopping at the market. Dinner with Bridget and overnight in hotel.

Day 04&05: Kumba-Bangem-Melong 7:00am breakfast and departure for Bangem via dirt road through Tombel in the Bakossi Mountains (especially, mount Kupe). Arrival in Bangem and Picnic launch at the Manengouba twin crater lakes; here you might see the endemic Picathartes bird. Return to Bagem and drive to Melong at Villa Luciole or kleber by 5:00pm dinner and overnight. We also spend the all day at melong where we visit Ekom waterfalls where some shootings of the famous Film TARZAN took place. We drive through the Moungo corridors (the most fertile lands of volcanic soils in the country) where we shall see large plantations like the banana, rubber ,pineapple, palm and even flower plantations of which all these products are exported abroad. Overnight at villa kleber or luciole

Day 06 Melong- Baham-Foumban 7:30am, breakfast and departure for Baham through Bafang (one of the renounced agricultural towns in the country).At this area, we find large coffee and cocoa plantations. A brief stop at KEKEM to taste grilled meat, plantain, cocoyam, yams and fish all on charcoal fire. After visiting the Bandjoun palace and its museum, launch in a restaurant in Bafoussam. We continue our way to the Islamic Foumban town through an agricultural town of Foumbot. Visit to the palace of the sultan and the museum if time permit (if not the next day before Bamenda). Check in to a hotel for diner and night.

Day 07: Foumban-Bamenda 7:30am,breakfast(visit to the palace of the sultan and the museum and if this day is a Friday we might see the sultan giving audience to his people, a colourful happening with music and traditional dress). At mid day, launch in a good restaurant and departure to Bamenda through Bafoussam. A stop at the Mitchie waterfall where we have encestral believes that there is communication between the living and the deads. Continuation through Mbouda(the region where people prefer their pear to butter and cheers. Arrival in Bamenda in the eveningand check-in a hotel. Diner and overnight.

Day 08: Bamenda-Bafut-Dschang After 8:00am breakfast and departure to Bafut to visit the palace(German construction during colonisation), museum, oldest secret traditional house in the Central African Sub-region and witness atypical grassfield mask dance. Return to Bamenda for lunch in a restaurant and continue to Dschang. Check-in in a hotel and launch. Free afternoon for other activities maybe swimming.

Day9: Dschang-Douala-Kribi 6:30 breakfast and departure to Kribi via Douala. Early start and long travelling day with stops on the way for the Lunch at Douala and continuation. Arrival in Kribi, check-in, diner and night in the hotel.

Day 10: Kribi 7:00am breakfast and departure to the river Lobe where a canoe is taken to the Pygmy village. Welcome by Pygmies, the people of the forest who live by hunting and gathering. Return by canoe to Kribi. Eat fresh shrimps at the beach for lunch and see the Lobe waterfalls. If required, a half day trip can be organised to go sea fishing with the local fishermen. Overnight in hotel in Kribi.

Day 11: Kribi-Douala

Breakfast and departure for Douala, visit to handicraft market for last shopping then transfer to the airport for the depature.
